Cruise operator Princess Cruises has announced the return of two of its ships to the port of Southampton!

The flagship of the Princess fleet, Royal Princess, will be returning to the world best Cruise Departure Port, but not until 2018, when it’s sister ship, Sapphire Princess, will also join it in Southampton.

Tony Roberts, Vice President of Princess Cruises said of the move to Southampton:

"We are very excited to welcome Sapphire Princess, which has never sailed in Europe before and boasts unique features that we are confident our U.K. guests will enjoy. And the return of Royal Princess will be a special moment as 2018 will mark five years since she was launched in Southampton by HRH, the Duchess of Cambridge.

"Having seen a significant increase in popularity of Princess cruises from the U.K., we are thrilled to announce that our 2018 programme will be our biggest ever season. With over 40 sailings, there are more holiday options than ever before from the U.K. and with just a five per cent deposit, guests can secure a seven-night cruise for under £40."

The next few years are set to be ultra-exciting ones for the Royal Princess as it will also be returning for a second series of the successful ITV behind-the-scenes documentary.

The 3,600 passenger ship was launched on 9 April 2013, by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge in a naming ceremony at the port of Southampton.
